The first thing you need to know is that the shape of each eyebrow made with the PhiBrows method is created according to the “Golden Ratio” (or the divine proportion). The point of this principle is to divide the line into two parts so that its longer line will become the geometric mean of the length of the shorter part and also the geometric mean of the entire segment. After a little counting, we can find out that the golden number is approximately 1.618. There is one interesting thing about this number. If we square it, we will get a number exactly 1 greater than itself – 2.618. The “golden ratio” is often used in aesthetic and proportional architecture, painting, photographic compositions, etc. It was known already in antiquity and was considered to have great aesthetic value. It was used, among others, in the construction plans of the Acropolis in Athens. Since the 20th century, many artists and architects have been creating their projects according to the golden ratio. Especially in the form of a golden rectangle, in which the ratio of the longer side to the shorter side is equal to the golden proportion. Such proportions are considered to be aesthetic and beautiful. PhiBrows Artists follow this rule in order to create proportionate, aesthetic, and correct eyebrows. Therefore, when I paint the shape of the eyebrows, I always refer to this essential principle.

Some of my clients want their eyebrows to have the shape they are used to, or they bring a photo of some celebrity who they want to emulate. Unfortunately, I can’t help them this way. Micro-pigmentation treatment is not a visit to the hairdresser or manicure-pedicure stylist, where clients can choose the length of their hair or the color of their nails. When it comes to Microblading, the client doesn’t have that kind of choice.

Obviously, I always pay attention to their needs and preferences, but I must follow the rules of the Golden Proportion. On the other hand, the color always needs to be identical to the natural color of the client’s eyebrows.

The effects of the Microblading treatment may last from one to three years. However, there are many factors that affect the final effect and the durability that we, PhiBrows Artists, can’t control. The first is the process of cleansing and healing the wound after the treatment. It is absolutely necessary to follow the proper skincare routine, recommended by the specialist who performed the procedure. You can’t expect perfect results if the post-treatment care is not performed with accuracy (see: Post-treatment care).

As I mentioned before, skin type and lifestyle are also very important. Excessive sweating, exposure to the sun, chemical face peelings – all this affects the durability of the final effects.

Microblading can be performed over existing permanent makeup, but it needs to be faded almost completely, so the new hair can be visible and looks natural. If the treatment had been performed deep in the skin, which is a very common permanent makeup procedure, the skin may have more or fewer scars. Unfortunately, for these clients, the Microblading treatment is much more complicated due to the already existing skin damage. The second crucial issue is the shape of the previous permanent eyebrow makeup. If it wasn’t created according to the golden ratio, it must be removed.

Wax depilation and eyebrow adjustments can be done 7 days before the treatment, but it’s definitely better not to do it and let the PhiBrows Artist create the shape of the eyebrows. Also, it is not recommended to apply henna dye before Microblading treatment. The idea of Microblading is to paint the eyebrows’ hair in a very similar color to the natural hair. The color of the dye is matched, among others, to the natural color of the eyebrow, skin, and hair. If naturally light hair has been dyed dark before the treatment, the color of the PhiBrows dye may not be matched correctly, and the eyebrows will be too light or too dark. As a result, when the previous henna dye comes off, the difference between hair created during the PhiBrows treatment and natural hair will be noticed.

In some cases, if the client wants to have much darker eyebrows and is used to dying her eyebrows with henna, I can use the color of her henna dye in the process. After this kind of procedure, the client will always have to dye her eyebrows with henna (as long as the Microblading effects remain on the skin) to make them look natural. However, you should be aware that the healing process after Microblending treatment is quite long: about 4-5 weeks depending on the skin type. After this time, the client must perform the additional pigmentation treatment (that is absolutely necessary in order to get the perfect final effect). After the pigmentation, the healing process also lasts 4-5 weeks. During this time, in the period of about 8-10 weeks, the eyebrows cannot be dyed with henna, because it may badly affect the final effect of the Microblading treatment. About 8-10 weeks after the treatment, the eyebrows will be healed and you can apply henna and all kinds of corrections. You can treat them as your natural eyebrows.

To sum up, the client must be aware that the Microblading treatment will not change the color of her natural eyebrow hair. Microblading treatment will only make them look thicker or will completely reconstruct them if needed.

The Microblading treatment is performed in two steps. As I mentioned before, the Microblending treatment consists of the first visit and the second visit, when the additional pigmentation (correction) is performed. Only after the correction, you will get perfect eyebrows. I perform the correction between 4-6 weeks after the first treatment, which is absolutely necessary. If you think that you will not be able to do this after 6 weeks, (because you will be traveling, for example), do not make an appointment to perform the treatment.

The Microblading treatment may take several hours. Do not make an appointment if you are in a hurry or you have something very important on your schedule after the procedure. As I wrote before, Microblading is not a visit to the hairdresser. You cannot go to a party, ride a bike or do some workout after the treatment. I don’t perform the procedure before important ceremonies such as a wedding or birthday parties. The post-treatment care is extremely important in the entire process and we cannot forget about its impact on the final effect.

Many of my clients asked me if the Microblading treatment can damage their skin or leave scars.

The answer is yes – if Microblading treatment isn’t performed properly. In this case, it’s very similar to traditional permanent makeup, which also can leave some scars if performed incorrectly.

The entire Microblading procedure takes up to 3 hours. Yes, it is a very time-consuming procedure. The pigmentation itself takes about 1 – 1,5 hours, and the entire visit takes much longer. There are many permanent makeup artists who offer really fast services and finish their work in 45 minutes or 1 hour. That’s a personal matter and depends on the stylist. In my case, I spend a lot of time learning about my clients first. I always treat them individually with respect. The first step is the interview with the client about the contraindications to the treatment and her wishes regarding the shape and appearance of the eyebrows. Then, I take a photo of the client and I make a preliminary drawing, taking into consideration the rule of the “golden ratio”. Later I get the client’s approval or I make some corrections. The next steps are taking photos of the approved drawing, pigmentation process, post-treatment photo, discussion of post-treatment care, and the healing process. For me, as a certified PhiBrows Artist, these are all extremely important matters and I can’t imagine that the treatment could be performed in any other way.

All my high-quality tools and most modern accessories, which I use during the treatment, are sterile or disposable. They are all manufactured at the PhiBrows factory in Austria.
